And the perfect gem that represents the beauty of this area is The Lake Katherine Nature Center.

The Location

Lake Katherine Nature Center is a botanic garden located at Palos Heights, at 7402 Lake Katherine Dr, Palos Heights, IL 60463, United States.

This location, where now beautiful nature lives, wasn’t always like this. In a not so distant past, the site was known as an unofficial dump. Fortunately, some people saw the true beauty that lived there and the possibilities. Almost over 25 years later, people from all around the U.S. can enjoy the gorgeousness of nature at Lake Katherine.

The place is perfect for a weekend trip, a picnic, and outdoor recreation. But it’s also ideal for an engagement session or even wedding photo sessions.

If you decide that the ideal location for your engagement session is at Lake Katherine, you will be happy to know that you don’t need to have a photo permit. But for the wedding photography sessions here, you will need to get a special permit that costs $100.

Why is this the Location You’ve Been Looking for?

This location provides you the best background for photos if you are a nature aficionado. It’s perfect for couples that love to spend their time outdoors.

The plated luncheon menu for this event allows you to choose one starter with freshly sliced rustic bread with herbed butter, an entrée selection with starch and vegetable, and a dessert of your choice. Some refreshments are also included, such as ice water, basil lemonade, and regular coffee with cream & sugar available at each guest table.

Photo Session Tips and Tricks

We didn’t forget that we promised you some tips, so here they are.

  • Not everyone is born with an extraordinary sense for posing in photos, and that’s normal. You shouldn’t be afraid of posing, and the important thing is to relax. On the day of your photoshoot, you need to focus on the love that you are celebrating. You can use that love and energy and channel it to your posing. It may sound ridiculous, but it’s simple. If you are thrilled, you will look like that in the final photos. The best thing you can do is pretend like the photographer is not there, and enjoy your time with your loved one. This way, the photographer will be able to capture candid shots of the two of you, and you won’t even have to pose for them.
  • If you want to have a perfect photograph, you need to have the perfect background, but also the outfit. No one will look cute in a tracksuit. So, depending on the time of the year, you should dress accordingly.
  • If it’s summer you can wear dreamy, flower dresses, bright and pastel shirts, linen skirts, or shorts. Something light and colorful is always the right choice.
  • But if you are having a photoshoot in the autumn, your outfit needs to look different. You can wear something red, orange, or forest green. These colors will perfectly complement your surroundings at Lake Katherine. Considering that autumn is a shifty season, you can always bring an umbrella. You could use it as a cool prop or shield yourself from the possible rain.
  • While flower dresses can look great in photos, try to avoid other prints and patterns. Especially those that look super busy. Geometrical prints and clothes with colors can cause distraction. You and your partner are the ones that should be the center of the photograph.
